My first experience with Savant Arborists was disappointing. This consultation was regarding my recently transplanted baby Valley Oak tree. Despite numerous positive reviews leading me to believe this would be a professional and beneficial experience, the service I received was the antithesis of both. The company's disregard for my time began with an unrequested change from the previously confirmed appointment time of 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM in the form of a text to my phone the night before my appointment. While this was ultimately accepted after contacting them to clarify what the deal was, the situation escalated on the day of the consultation. The next day, at 12:27 PM—3 minutes before my appointment window of 12:30-1pm —I was texted by his assistant with a request to postpone the appointment to 2:00 PM due to an alleged "fallen tree emergency". This sudden change would mean for me, a resident of Concord, who had traveled to my family's Lafayette rental property (and house I grew up in - making this tree even more sentimental to me) to be there early for this appointment, to wait an additional 1.5 hours despite informing them I have class at 3pm on Tues and Thurs in previous conversations. This lack of consideration for my time is unprofessional and put a bad taste in my mouth. Upon Alex's arrival (ended up being a little earlier than 2pm) the consultation was immediately characterized by a condescending and critical demeanor. Rather than focusing much on the tree or providing expert guidance, he focused on criticizing the placement and execution of the transplant, persistently challenging the source of my informational efforts. As a client seeking professional assistance, I do not expect to be treated as stupid for lacking specialized knowledge. He was evasive and uncommunicative, offering only vague little tidbits of information while keeping one foot out the door and seeming like he needed to be somewhere else the entire time. I was left with more questions than answers, specifically lacking concrete guidance on critical care, such as watering protocols and a definitive analysis beyond obvious transplant shock. His repeated and unhelpful commentary, such as "if it even makes it," did nothing to instill confidence. The consultation concluded with no clear path forward except that I would re-transplanting the tree to the backyard on my own. When questioned about re-transplantation assistance, helping me build a root barrier or future support, he provided non-committal, vague responses "shoot me an email or a text". It was abundantly clear that he was inconvenienced and uninterested in providing comprehensive assistance to help me or to actually help save the tree. I think it is obvious that I really care about this tree that sprouted up naturally in my yard 2-3 years ago and that I am doing all that I can to increase its chances of survival. However, this "free consultation" proved to be unhelpful and provided no clear actionable information except for me to re-transplant it on my own and hope for the best. I would have gladly paid for a consultation that offered professional clarity and a structured plan of action.
We are a 41 acre mobile home park in St. Helena, with 900 trees and 100 of the trees are redwoods. Sexytrees has worked for us for 5 years. During that time we have had some difficult removals that have required a crane because of the proximity of the trees to homes. Sexytrees crew is well trained and takes care to provide excellent traffic control, safety to prevent damage to property and cleanup is superb. The crew is professional and friendly. This year with all the stormy, windy weather we had no trees downed. I attribute a lot of that to Sexytrees.
We recommend the services of Sexy Trees most highly. This company has provided consistently professional, skilled tree-trimming and tree removal service for us over the past several years. They go out of their way to respond promptly to emergency situations such as downed limbs on power lines. The workers are very well-trained to respond capably to a variety of needs, and the rates are very competitive.
Sexy Trees was fantastic. When they came out to give me the estimate, they were on time & understood our situation. The crew came on time, they were pleasant to deal with & most important where we live, they left the place clean & took the trimmings with them. They get the first call next & a recommendation to friends & neighbors.
