I got bids from five different vendors for the removal of seven trees, all of which were more than 60 feet tall. Treverso was actually a bit more expensive than three of the others, but I chose them for two reasons.
First, a very knowledgable certified arborist named Rhys gave me a written bid 10 minutes after he arrived. The other four vendors said they would send me a bid the next day, but it generally took them 3-10 days to get me a bid.
Second, and more important, Traverso ground the stumps down 18" below the surface of the ground. The others ground stumps down about 4-6".
My decision turned out to be a good one and I recommend Traverso without hesitation.
They brought a crew of five guys, two huge cranes, a huge wood chipper that devoured limbs, and a very large, remote-control stump grinder. I'm sure they also do much smaller jobs, where guys climb trees with chainsaws, but my trees were huge and the equipment matched the job.
They would wrap a chain around the tree limb about 2/3 of the way up, and then cut off the branch at the point where it intersected the trunk. The huge crane would then move the 40+ foot branch directly to the chipper, where two guys fed it into the chipper, with the chain still attached for more than half of the limb. They took down seven trees in less than 5 hours, and ground the stumps down 18 inches, as promised.
Another thing in their favor: I had one stump that was surrounded by shrubs. I should have removed the shrubs before they got here (we are relandscaping the entire yard), but I didn't. The shrubs prevented the stump grinder from removing the center of the stump down as far as they promised. It looked OK at the time, but after the landscape crew cleared out all the shrubs two weeks later, we discovered that the grinder missed some of the stump. They came back and took care of it, at their expense.
Traverso is a first class operation. I learned from the crew that the company has been around for more than 30 years while the owner, John Traverso, is retired from leadership. he still trains people, and most of his employees have worked for him for years.
Traverso was not the least expensive, at least in my case, but they did a fabulous job and I would not hesitate to use them again.

We just used Traverso Tree for the first time, we had a fallen Acacia, and much overgrowth and some safety concerns with many of the trees on our property, we requested haul away services too, it was a two day job, but they were so quick and professional, they even swept and blew away the excess saw dust. They did a great job, and I would absolutely use them again and recommend their services. I wish I had more before and after photos but I'll post what I can. The trees that they thinned looked so natural, they were careful to not drop any trimmings onto the neighbors yards, even when they had to move our neighbors planter to get the crane in the driveway, they remembered to move everything back where it was. That level of consideration and care is so rarely found. Wish I could give more than 5 stars.

Traverso has been taking care of my parents trees as long as I can remember and now that I have my own home with trees to maintain I can see why it was Traverso doing the work for all that time. They're knowledgeable and professional, friendly and informative. Plus they take great care of their workers. You wont find a better company to work with.

Fantastic, professional service. Raphael (certified arborist) gave us an estimate that involved removing much less of our trees than "some other guy" resulting in preserving them perfectly! He even came out on the day of the work to ensure it was done the way he wanted. All of the crew were professional and courteous. Highly recommended.

Can you imagine working threat of being shot with a 357 weapon by some neighbor while working next door? Traverso Tree Service crew did...I am more than satisfied with the work done on my trees by TTS. Your crew was professional. Praise to your foreman and the men on the job for their diligence. They were courteous in the face of threatening verbal abuse from a neighbor and avoided conflict. The neighbor called the police and posted unkind remarks on Yelp regarding your company. When the police arrived to interview and document the incident, it was clear there was no trespassing or damage to his property. Of course, he was not there when the police arrived, but the officer was familiar with the "complaining disturbed" neighbor. The job was finished as promised on the work order. I am pleased and highly recommend TTS!
